Another amazing thing about retirement is......
doing FUN home improvement projects!  Really!
Actually, the idea was mine and the hard work was done by my dear husband, Jean, who is good at EVERYTHING.   I purchased the map of the Charleston Harbor area at West Marine, the Mod Podge glue finish at Jo Ann's and the clear coat spray at Walmart.
As Jean was cutting, measuring and planning, I was in charge of watching for bubbles in the Mod Podge and timing the coats of Podge he used to cover the map.  Oh, and stuffing towels under the bedroom doors to keep the very strong aroma of the clear, spray sealant from creeping in.
We did the entire project right in the dining room, with a painters drop cloth under the table.
We're thinking of getting a piece of glass cut to cover the entire table top, though, as it wil further protect the map and the table.  Looks pretty good, huh?
What's next in retirement??  Anything and everything, thank you very much.

1842 Inn, College St., Macon, Georgia

When traveling to Macon, don't miss the 1842 Inn.We have just returned from a lovely weekend in Macon, Georgia, where we visited our son Jeff and daughter-in-law Rachel.  We stayed at the 1842 Inn, a handsome Greek Revival bed and breakfast, just a few steps from my son's house on College St.  The staff at the 1842 Inn pampered us with cheerful service, thoughtful attention to detail and delicious breakfasts.  The Inn's rooms were beaufifully apppointed, with comfy four poster beds, thick, soft towels, and warm momogrammed robes.  We watched the world go by in rocking chairs on the front veranda and sipped sweet tea by the courtyard garden; the men sipped mint juleps from frosted julep cups and I ate warm cookies before bed...heaven!   The weather was perfect and the company better than perfect...one of the many, many fantastic things about retirement is the ability to just pick up and go when I want to see my son and his lovely wife.  We so enjoy all of their Macon friends, as well.  Many thanks to our Macon family and friends for a happy, relaxing weekend!
